To highlight from the article, the amount for an eligible dependant credit on line 30400 is often referred to by its former name “Equivalent to Spouse.” Most commonly associated with single-parent families, this non-refundable tax credit doesn’t just apply to children. One of the larger credits, the eligible dependant amount can go up to approximately $15,705 (or more if your dependant qualifies for the Canada caregiver amount).
