What does it mean ,under review

If the IRS hasn't shared the nature of the review with you by sending you a letter, it is hard to say.

If you have one of the following forms in your return, that is likely the source of the review:

Form 8857, Innocent Spouse Relief.
Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation.
Form 1040X, Amended Tax Return filed before original return was processed.

If you don't have any of those forms, the review can be triggered by any number of things on your tax return.

Self-employment income and expense increases your chance of review somewhat, as does very high itemized deductions.
