The Forms MO-NRI and/or MO-CR are generated as needed based on your entries.  From your question a form MO-CR would not apply since there doesn't appear to be any income taxed by MO and NY; so a credit would not be claimed.  The MO-NRI may apply as you allocate income to MO.  MO does offer deductions for social security and public and private pensions. However, those are limited by your income levels so all will not likely be exempted and some may be taxed.  NOTE:  All of the taxable social security shown on your federal form will be exempted from MO tax automatically. You should verify your entries as follows.

    1. First in "My Info"
    2. Edit your personal information
    3. Indicate you lived in MO on 31 Dec
    4. Answer "Yes" you lived in another state and select NY from the dropdown list
    5. Enter the date you moved to MO
    6. Continue
    7. Edit your spouse's personal information
    8. Make the same residence entries as yours (2-5 above)
    9. Verify your income forms are entered as you received them
    10. Navigate to and "Edit" your MO state interview
    11. Confirm "Part-year" resident status in the "General" section
    12. "Update" the "Adjustments" section
    13. Continue/verify to arrive at the page "Missouri Pension and Retirement Adjustment"
    14. You likely have a private pension (see examples on the page)
    15. On the next page enter the correct amount of the total pensions that are private or public in the applicable box(es)
    16. The next page will show you the exemption amount according to your income and the type of pension
    17. Continue to the allocation series of questions
    18. Allocate as applicable to MO, particularly the pension amount received while in MO
    19. If there were allocations, you will arrive at a page showing the income ratios and resulting MO tax
    20. This is form MO-NRI information

filed my 2023 taxes with Turbo Tax.  I was a part year resident with NY and Mo.  All earned income came from NY.  No earned income for MO.  Moved to MO in Oct, so my wife and I received unearned income while in MO, Social Secrity  and NYS Retirement.  My question is why didn't Turbo Tax use form MO-CR or Form MO-NRI.   Turbo Tax says I owe $1059 to MO but everybody says that I don't owe MO nothing.   Help only a couple days before 15th.
