I  filed 2020 , and it has been accepted. For second stimulus Check or card was sent to wrong address and was considered undeliverable. So, Turbo tax told m-e I must amend 2020 return. to get second stiulus $.

Until today IRS had not done a program so that I could do that on Turbo Tax. It appears that now I can amend to get the 2nd stimulus $. If that is correct how do I do it.

I am 93 but still fairly competent but might need more than the ususal help.

If need could I talk to someone?

If you did not get the second stimulus payment because it was lost then you need to request a trace to be able to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 tax return. Please see How do I request a payment trace to track my first or second Economic Impact Payments?

Please check your Form 1040 if you have an entry on line 30 Recovery Rebate Credit to verify the credit wasn't already included on your original return.

If not, then after your original return has been processed you will have to file an amended tax return to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on line 30 on your Form 1040. You can e-file your 2020 amended federal tax return. Please see FAQ How to amend a tax return for instructions.

To claim the credit in TurboTax, please follow these steps:

  1. Log into TurboTax.
  2. After entering all your information click "Federal Review" at the top of your screen (or click "Search" and type "Stimulus" and follow the jump to link).
  3. On the screen "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount" click "Continue".
  4. You will be asked about the amounts of first round and second round stimulus payments you received.  If you did not receive a payment enter "0".
  5. TurboTax will then calculate the amount of stimulus payment remaining that you are still entitled to get.
  6. Any stimulus amount remaining due to you will show as a credit on line 30 of the 1040.
