Question

5695, residential energy credit is being added automatically to my return even after I go back and delete it. Does this happen to anyone else? How to fix it?

If you delete a form in TurboTax and it still comes back, it means there are numbers coming from somewhere else that's reviving the form.

Go back into that section and see whether there are any numbers.

  1. Open (continue) your return if you don't already have it open.
  2. Inside TurboTax, search for this exact phrase including the comma and spaces: 5695, residential energy credit
  3. Select the Jump to link in your search results.
  4. At the bottom of the Energy-Saving Home Improvements screen, answer Yes, then select Continue.
  5. On Did You Make Any Improvements to Your Windows in Prior Years? say Yes. Remove any numbers on this screen.
  6. On Did You Get Any Home Energy Credits in Prior Years? say Yes. Remove any numbers on the screen.
  7. On Do You Have a 2020 Home Energy Credit to Carry Forward? say Yes. Remove any numbers.
  8. Go back to Energy-Saving Home Improvements, answer No and delete form.
