I have a code on my transcripts of 971 what can I do to fix this asap and what is it for?

    Code 971 indicates that there is an issue with your taxes

     

    • This may including tax return adjustments, document requests, and account changes. 
    • You should have resaved a tax notice explaining the issue.

    If you received the notice you should review the details, determine if you agree with the notice, draft your response, and then remit your communication to the IRS

     

    If you did not get the notice you can call toll-free at 800-829-1040 or contact a Taxpayer Assistance Center Local IRS Office.
