Adding to your taxes

I just found a w-2 that says I worked for them I do not remember working for this company but I don't want to get penalized for not reporting information so how do I go about adding to a statement that is already done and the check is only for like $13.00 fed.. $6.00 state?

If you have not yet filed your tax return, you can add that W-2 to your tax return.

 

To add another W-2, please follow these steps:

  1. In TurboTax, open your tax return
  2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages & Income on top of the screen
  3. Click Edit/Add next to Job (W-2)
  4. On the next page, click on Add another W-2 (or if filing jointly click on Add a W-2 for [name]) .

 

If you have already filed, you have to wait to see if your return is rejected or accepted.

 

If your return is rejected by the IRS, you can add that W-2 and correct other errors, then re-file your return.

 

If your return is accepted, you'll need to amend your return. Please note that the amended form will not be ready before end of February.
