I am amending Federal return only to file th Form 8606 for reporting Non-Deductible IRA last year. Do I have to file CA Amended by filing the same Form 540 with no change in tax liability and attach CA Schedule X, explaining the reason to amend is to attach Federal Form 8606?
With no changes to the rest of the tax return caused by the addition of Form 8606 to simply report a nondeductible traditional IRA contribution, I see no reason to amend a state tax return.
