Hi, after filing I found a 1099 that I forgot to input. I have now entered it and there is no change to my tax liability. Do I still need to file an amended return?

Thanks

Yes you have to report it.  ALL of your income must be reported on your tax return.

How do I amend my 2019 TurboTax Online return?

A 1040X cannot be e-filed.  It must be printed and mailed.  It will take about 4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  It is a good idea to use a mailing service that will track it, like UPS or certified mail, so you will know it was received.

Wait about 3 weeks from mailing and you can check the status of your amended return:

It's unusual that a 1099 (what kind was it?) doesn't change your tax.

If there is no tax change and no impact on future tax returns, there is no point to amending your return.

The 1099 was for a small writing project where there were enough other business expenses that the net result was no additional tax.
