Amending Multiple Tax Returns With TurboTax Free Edition?

Hello! I didn't claim my American Opportunity Tax Credit in the 2017 and 2018 Tax Seasons. Luckily, I was able to amend my 2017 Tax Returns using the 2017 TurboTax free software download after I had requested it online. The process was made incredibly simple because TurboTax has such an awesome program! However, after I completed my amendment for the 2017 Tax Season, I submitted another request to file an amendment, this time for the 2018 Tax Season, the same way I did previously - through the TurboTax webpage. Unfortunately, I have not received a download code to download the 2018 TurboTax software to also amend these tax returns and am worried that I tried handling this the wrong way. Perhaps I should've tried doing it using the 2017 Software? Or perhaps I can just use my 2017 Amended Tax Returns as a guide to know which forms to print out, and just fill out each page by hand, and then mail it. Any expert guidance will be truly appreciated! 😊

Only 2019 tax returns can be amended online.  2018 and earlier requires the desktop software installed on a Mac or Windows computer.

Amended returns can only be mailed. It is suggested that it be mailed certified with return receipt (or other tracking service) to verify that the IRS receives it.

See this TurboTax FAQ for detailed amend instructions:

You can check the status of the amended return here, but allow 3 weeks after mailing.

Yes, I meant to say that I used the 2017 software which I downloaded to assist me in amending my returns. After I used the software I printed out the returns and mailed them yesterday. I just wanted to know if it should take this long to receive the code for the 2018 software.

What do you mean by "the code for the 2018 software" ?   What code?

2018 is totally separate from 2017 and amended the same way by using the 2018 software.
