i need to change my dependents, can i file an amendment if the irs audited the other person who claimed them? I didn’t claim them but I want to after all, plus I just called the irs and they said my refund is on hold for 60 day review... can we both file amendments to change the dependents?

You should wait for your original return to be processed. The IRS may offer some additional instructions for you in the case of disputed dependents after their review.

If you get a letter from the IRS provide the information they request.

If your refund gets deposited, then you can file an amendment to update dependent information, if you need/wish to.
