Question

Are my taxes complete even though I got a screen that says "you've e-filed, but don't forget to mail in these forms" and I could not get the forms to download or print?

I had completed everything else and then received this screen at the very end of my turbotax session. I clicked "print forms" but got an error message. I logged in again later but could not get back to the same page. I waited a few days and received acceptance messages from the federal and state, so it seems like my taxes are complete, but I am worried that I skipped an important step since I was not able to print the forms. I do not know what the forms were. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

@cmagers29-  You can find these forms in your tax files.   you can view your .pdf file without printing, then scroll through the pages to find the page noted in your question: "You've e-filed, but don't forget to mail in these forms".  Remember that any forms or tax documents you mail to the IRS, you should also keep a copy of such as W2s or 1099s. You should also always keep a copy of your return as filed for your records.

There are a handful of situations where you might have to mail something after e-filing, like if your return  contains summary sales or it contains Form 8453

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account and open your return by selecting Continue or Pick up where you left off.
  2. Select Tax Tools from the left menu, then Print Center (on mobile devices, tap in the upper left corner to expand the menu)
  3. Select Print, save, or preview this year's return, and follow any additional instructions
  4. Once your PDF opens in Adobe Acrobat Reader, select the printer icon near the top
  5. Make any adjustments in the Print window and then select Print at the bottom
  6. You can choose to print to a printer, or print to a .pdf to safe it on your computer.

I’m not sure what is supposed to be mailed? There’s nothing listed and since i was working from my tablet, I had to log in from my PC to print anything. When I did that, it just took me to my completed information. How can I confirm if something needs to be printed and mailed?

If you clicked on the link to Print Forms, and there was nothing to print, check the Filing Instructions in the PDF copy of your return you saved to your computer.

In most cases, there is nothing that needs to be mailed.

You'll get Emails from TurboTax when you've Efiled, and again when your returns are Accepted.

Here's How to Get a PDF of Your Return.

Hi - I just had the same thing happened to me and it's really frustrating. With mine, it appears that I need to mail my state return and include payment. Apparently my state does not permit electronic payment through Turbo Tax. If you learned anything else, I would like to know.

"my state does not permit electronic payment through Turbo Tax"

That's not a reason to give up on e-File.

There are other payment options for the amount you owe to your state, and TurboTax should show them.

Yes, if you chose to pay your State Tax Due by check, you'll get a Payment Voucher to mail it in.

You don't have to mail a check if you pay directly on your state's website, however.  Here's a link to State Departments of Revenue.
