Auto Payment of IRS Fed Tax Due Confirmation of set up

I set up an auto payment of my Fed Taxes from my checking account due for a future date but I have no confirmation that it will be paid.  I don’t see any documentation confirming.  If I look up on the IRS link they require a confirmation number and I don’t see that in my TurboTax documents.  I just want confirmation that this will happen as planned.

You will not see a confirmation until it is paid.  You can print your return to view the payment instructions that were forwarded with your e-file.

 

When you print a copy of your return, we include everything that was sent to the government, plus extra documentation and calculation worksheets.

However, the printout won't include copies of the entry forms you got in the mail, such as W-2s or 1099s. If you need copies of those, contact whoever issued them originally.

To get a copy of your 2023 tax return that you filed this year, sign in to the account you used to file this year's taxes, and either:

  • Select Preview or print returns if your return has been accepted, or
  • Select Your tax returns & documents to expand it if needed and select Download/print return (PDF).

Thank you for the response.  I did download my tax documents.  I do not see any indication that my automatic scheduled payment for the future is confirmed.  I did complete the online instructions for setting up my payment as an automatic direct debit from my checking account at a future date.  In the past years, TurboTax used to have a cover page that would print with our tax return documents that would provide additional information with it but for the last couple years I noticed the cover page is no longer there. 

 

Other replies I have received to my question say there is no way to confirm my scheduled payment until after the day actually comes and goes and I see the debit from my checking account.  Luckily I scheduled it in early April so I have a cushion in the event it does not get paid.  

 

I would suggest TurboTax have a page that prints out with the return documents indicating that indeed the filer did sign up for a direct payment / debit on this date and from this account.  That would provide a nice confirmation to the filers purchasing the service from TurboTax, rather than waiting to see if it actually gets debited.  Thank you.

You can call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 1-888-353-4537 to inquire about your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.  They can confirm your payment date.
