Question

Before I entered that I had received the third covid relief payment, I was getting $200 in a refund. After, it showed I now owe $1220. Why would that change?

When I first spoke to a specialist she said that there was a fee because the amount we received was high ($2400 between me and my husband, no children). When I asked about this fee they said they would check with their team and I was later disconnected while waiting. What is this fee?

Before you entered that you already received the stimulus payment, that "refund monitor" was treating it as if you had not received the stimulus and it was adding to your return.  When you entered that you already received it, the calculations had to reconcile the amount received.    The tax liability that you had which was being covered by a stimulus check you could not receive twice re-appeared.

You cannot ever take that refund monitor seriously until ALL of your information has been entered.
