Question

Can I deposit my return to an international bank account? My US account is no longer open. I can only see the option for routing number? I am in the UK. Thanks

Sorry, a tax refund can only be direct deposited into a US bank that is located in the US.  If you do not have a US bank account then the tax refund can only be mailed to you as a check using the address that is on your tax return.

The IRS will not make a direct deposit to a foreign bank.  They will only mail you a check to the address on your tax return if you do not have a U.S. based bank account.   It will then be up to you to deposit or cash that check.
