Question

Can I edit my tax return if it’s still pending? I filed using my last check stub and then received my w2 and there’s one error I need to fix.

Your pending return can not be changed. If your return is accepted you will get an email. If the return is rejected the e-mail will tell you what to correct and you can make changes before e-filing again. Amend to change an accepted return after you get your refund. Instructions below

No.  Now you are stuck.  We always tell users not to file with pay stubs, because they will not match your W-2.

The IRS will begin to accept/reject returns on 1-29.  Until then, your return is trapped on a server.  You cannot make any changes, even small ones.   If they accept your e-file then you have to wait for them to fully process the return and amend it.   If they reject it, you can make changes and re-file.
