Can I start filling out information about my tax return before it asks questions tht on my w2 and save my progress?

You can start entering information and it will be autosaved. But then you will need to enter your W-2 and any other information that arrives later. The IRS is not accepting 2020 returns until February 12, so you have plenty of time. There is no reason to rush to e-file until you have all of your information. Employers have until February 1 to issue W-2's.
