Changes to Tax Law after I already filed

I filed my Federal tax return and it was accepted and now new tax law updates have changed my return from me owing to now I should be receiving a refund.  From my understanding it is because of the unemployment taxes I I paid and now the unemployment compensation I received isn't part of my AGI.  What do I need to do?  Do I have to file an amended return?  I signed up for the amount I owed to be debited from my checking account on April 15, will that still happen or what?

    Do not amend your return.

If you already filed your income tax return before the American Rescue Act was passed, you do not need to do anything.  The IRS will be refunding affected taxpayers for the taxes paid on the first $10,200 of unemployment income if you met the requirements as detailed in the link below.

Unemployment claimed on returns already filed.

Since your overall return will generate a refund, you can go to the following link to cancel your payment with the IRS directly as you will not be able to do this in TurboTax anymore since your return was filed and sent to the IRS already.

    IRS payments

This same situation applies to us. We have not made the payment yet and when we went to print the taxes, it doesn't print a voucher because now we should get a refund. Do we still send in the amount owed or will the IRS make the adjustment and send the refund?

@taxski It would be best to not send a payment if it is not due because your tax return was changed due to a tax law update. It may be hard to get the payment back once you make it.
