Changing/Amending Social Security LSE choice

Turbo Tax selected Social Security LSE for some reason and it is going to cause me to owe taxes in a prior year. I will not owe in 2020 claiming it all this year. How do I get this corrected? Amend the return somehow? My refund is now in limbo probably because its created tax due in a prior year. I am not sure why this was chosen method as all prior year returns were done through Turbo Tax and there was no need to spread it out as there was no tax liability this year claiming the whole thing.

There is a screen in the social secuirty section where it asks if you received any lump-sum payments.  If your did not receive a lump-sum payment, then correct this screen when you file the amendment.

Amend will be available in TurboTax in late March.  Do not attempt to amend until the function is available.  It is best to wait until your current return has been processed before filing an amend.

You generally must file an amended return within three years of the date you filed the original return or within two years after the date you paid the tax, whichever is later.
