As of 1/31/2024, it's unknown when you'll be able to electronically file your Colorado tax return.

The Colorado Department of Revenue website indicates only that "The Department of Revenue is working diligently to start processing 2023 income tax returns. Please check back on February 15 for updated information."

That said, you'll most likely be able e-file your Colorado tax return prior to that date.  The revenue department will be able to hold your state return until the it's ready to start accepting returns.

Try submitting it now and then to see when it transmits.

    i'm getting this

    Your transmission didn't go through
We could not e-file your return for the following reason:
Our records indicate that you are not entitled to e-file one or more form sets.

Yes, the state of Colorado has delayed the start of e-filing season.

As JohnW pointed out, their website says, "Check back after February 15". We can't provide more details at this time because the state of Colorado has not provided any.

Unable to file my Colorado state tax I got the same error as the guy above me

    February 1, 2024

Same error here any updates on when we should try again

Turbo tax did not apply my Colorado Tabor Tax refund. , when can we amend my return to include this oversight. My return is already being processed.

    February 1, 2024

When checking today, it seems like $1,600 in refund is missing from CO State returns, which was included when we initially filled in the numbers. Early filers are supposed to get $800 per filer as a result of TABOR.

    February 2, 2024

Mine was missing that amount also! And it looked like they were trying to get me to do it all again when I already did. It was even acting like I hadn't paid already to file my state taxes, but I did! Ugh!

You’ll get a paper check in mail if you’re 19+ years old in spring

    February 2, 2024

I heard TABOR refunds will not be direct payments which means you’ll get a paper check in the mail

It actually does not say that anymore. In fact, as of Sunday when I checked, they are open and accepting returns. So why is it 3 days later and my return still shows Pending for Colorado?

    February 13, 2024

UGH!  mine still says pending as well...   Anyone know if there is something we can do to push these along?

    February 15, 2024

Why is my state incimtax still pending accepting when Colorado has started to accept 2/12? Is turbo tax resubmitting ?

    February 15, 2024

    this is exactly my question.

    February 20, 2024

My Colorado tax return has still not been received by Colorado (status on their website is "Not Filed"; it is not listed as Pending with Colorado).
Per the TurboTax Electronic Filing History report, the only timestamp is it having been received by TurboTax on 1 Feb 2024. There is no timestamp of it having been sent to or received by Colorado.

When will TurboTax actually be sending the tax returns to Colorado? There are numerous posts in here with roundabout thoughts/theories, but no clear answers by actual TurboTax employees. It would be nice for someone who actually works for TurboTax, and has actual knowledge about the Colorado state return problems, to provide a definitive answer to the numerous questions by people about "did TurboTax actually send the files?"

    February 20, 2024

Colorado had some additional updates that were required on their software.  That has been fixed however, there is a serious backlog of returns to process.  And they were all submitted to the Agency at the same time. . The issue seems to be because of the number of returns submitted at once.

Please be patient and allow the Agency to process the large number of returns that came through to them at the same time.
