Completed Fed & State last night and printed returns (Free Edition) and I did not add 1099-DIV and never mailed original, how do edit without amending?

I had no income (unemployed) in 2023 and entering the 1099-DIV did not change refund or tax owed as it was less than $10 (both Fed & State). Can I mail the amended return even though I never mailed the original?

Since the original return was not filed, you do Not amend the tax return.  You only needed to add the income to the original tax return before filing.

 

Additionally, if this was your only income in 2023 there is no need for you to file a 2023 tax return.
