Question

Did anyone get the email we were told we would get today about amending our returns in reference to receiving our second stimulus check after we filed?

You are the third thread I've seen that has asked this. Could you please let me know who told you that you'd be getting an email from TurboTax regarding amending due to stimulus payments received/not received? Please, as this is not correct and I'd really like to get it pushed up the chain of command.

If you've already filed (submitted) your 2020 tax return in the current year, 2021, and the information you put on there regarding any/all stimulus checks you did or did not receive was as of that date that you submitted, then received a check you had stated you had not, there is nothing you need to do. The IRS will reconcile that themselves. My apologies on behalf of TurboTax for anyone who might have misdirected you on this. You are fine and your return will be processed accordingly. I will say that, after doing this for as many years as I have, in knowing the IRS's margin for error, just keep an eye on what refund you receive for the return you did file as if they wound up adding it to your refund, then catch their error at a later date, they "might" come back to you looking for it. Only reason I add this is that I've seen in past the IRS making their own internal calculation and "correction" of someone's refund, issuing a greater refund than what was actually due to the taxpayer, then 3 year later sending out a letter to that taxpayer letting them know of their error and informing of the funds due back. It is rare, but I've seen it happen. So just keep an eye on this for your own benefit.
