Question

"difficulty recognizing data"

I bought TurboTAX 2021 and filed my taxes  3 days ago. When I tried to submit the return, I got a message saying that two forms needed to file my NC state taxes were not yet approved for 2021.  So I gave my email address to get notified when the forms were ready.

Fast forward 2 days. Email tells me the forms are ready, and I need to download the latest version of Turbo Tax before re-submitting my taxes. I get the latest version, then try to file.

Now I get the following message:

"The Intuit Electronic System is having difficulty recognizing the data in the return you are sending. Make sure your  TurboTax program is up to date: Go to the Online menu and select Check For Updates. If you still can't transmit your return, go to www.support.turbotax.com for a solution or workaround. In some cases you may need to file this return by mail. Tax Year 2021 transmissions are not available - Turbotax is not ready to process Tax Year 2021 for this return"

My return is very easy... just social security and pension income. No investments. Standard deduction.  It is unacceptable to imagine that TurboTax could choke on my return.  What are my options?  If I have to file by mail then I want my money back.

This is a known issue and is currently being worked on. We do not currently have a ETA, please feel free to check back in a few days.

Well... since this will affect all of your NC customers... good luck.

In order to take charge of this and get my taxes filed, I just downloaded the forms D-400 and D-400s from the NC dept of revenue's website and filled them out myself... as I probably will from now on.
