Question

Do I file an Amend to my return if I accidentally entered the wrong amount received on my first stimulus refund?

I did not enter the full amount as I forgot the first refund was more than the second.

No, if you entered less stimulus payment received and falsely claimed the Recovery Rebate Credit then the IRS will most likely just make an adjustment to your refund.  Please see IRS Recovery Rebate Credit Q D2 What happens if I claim the incorrect amount? for additional information. Please be aware hat the Recovery Rebate Credit on line 30 was included in the total refund on line 34 on Form 1040 and shown in TurboTax.

Ok thank you! I forgot I received 1700 and only entered 1200 on the 1st stimulus received and was trying to make sure to avoid any penalties!

Once the original return has been fully processed then you can amend the return to get the missing credit.
