Question

Do I really have to print my whole return for a small amendment?

I e-filed my federal, NY and NJ returns. Then I discovered I had omitted one form 1099. I reopened Turbotax and entered the 1099. My federal tax liability increased by $121. My NY and NJ tax liability didn't change (because it's savings bond interest).

Turbotax is telling me I must print a hard-copy of my amendment federal and NJ returns (56 pages!) and mail it, and also e-file my NY return again.

Do I really need to print and mail 56 pages because of this one small change??

Thanks for your help!

Yes, you need to print out the original tax return as well as the amended tax return to file your 1040X, your amended tax return.
