Question

Does anyone know how to get the IRS to give information on refunds? I was approved for a refund on February 22nd and there's no information or ETA on the IRS site.

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to get a status update on the processing of your tax return.

Thank you. When I call it says that given the large volume of calls there's no service available and directs you again to the website. It's a dead end too.

These are unprecedented times due to the pandemic.  This year has brought challenges with unknown timelines. The IRS is required to reconcile the tax returns and stimulus payments as well as working on the third stimulus payments due to the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).  With the tax season and the changes taking place all at once, a delay should be expected for full payments. They want to be diligent and are required to follow any protocols they have been issued.
