Employer Identification number (EIN) rejected with electronic submission

The Employer Identification number (EIN) for all five of my W-2s are being rejected with electronic submission of the federal form.

These are the same EIN from last year...9 digits...I have even tried entering with and with out the dash after the 1st two digits.

There appears to be a software error with TurboTax 2019 as all five EINs have not changed from last year and all are being rejected.

How one fix this to file electronically? Anyone else having the same issue?  How does one report this issue to TurboTax?

Make sure you have updated your software before e-filing. See this FAQ regarding Updating Turbo Tax desktop software.

NEW Case #  [social security number removed]  Mark TurboTax 2/10/2020 0800 MT
4 out of 5 W-2s in error; maybe an issue with the automatic transfer from the 2018  Turbo tax file or from the IMPORT of a provided EIN. The TurboTax help desk recommended to DELETE each W-2 and start from scratch and manually enter in the data; include the dash after the 1st two EIN digits.
    Resolution:
I had to delete all five of the W-2s and then manually enter in each W-2. The issue appeared to be the IMPORT function of an existing employer EIN that although correctly entered cause the IRS to reject the form because of incorrect EIN. Even though the EIN when auto populated should the same information. The only way to fix it was to actually delete the W-2 versus just editing the W-2 with the same EIN.

@pilawski3 Try the instructions below to fix your EIN number:

    Open your return in TurboTax.

    1. In the search box type: W-2
    2. click on Jump to W-2
    3. On the W-2 summary screen, click Edit next to the W-2 on the return
    4. Make sure the EIN in Box b exactly matches what's on your W-2 form. If not, make the correction
    5. Make sure the info in the Employer's Name and Address fields match your paper W-2.  If not, make the correction.

There is nowhere for me to make the changes on the EIN once it was rejected.
