Filed 1/24. Still not accepted by the IRS, still stuck in pending

It has now been almost 4 days - well over 72 hours - and the IRS has still not accepted or rejected my return it is stuck.

I have used TurboTax every year. I have no changes. I have no unusual forms. I spent two hours on the phone with TurboTax yesterday and they could find no reason or give me any explanation of what is going on. I called the tax advocate line at the IRS and they do not show my return at all received.

This is ridiculous and frustrating! How do I get it released so that they can accept it or reject it whatever they're going to do with it but so that there is motion?

Great so I originally said that I bought my EV but then it said I didn't qualify. So maybe it didn't remove that form even though I deleted it? I think you're right and I think that's the connection but how is it going to get fixed? I will be on the phone with them again tomorrow if that's the case!

Just wanted to say thank you to this whole thread, btw. Feels so much better knowing there is a common theme instead of a massive mess up. I'm still mad that TT couldn't figure it out, but I understand their customer care team is probably trying to figure out who they are asking to prom and stuff.

I am in the exact same situation.  Filed on 1/24.  Still pending as of 1/31, not accepted or rejected.  IRS has no record of receiving a return.  I just got off the phone with Turbo Tax.  The person I spoke to said that she can see that my return was received by the IRS on her end.

That's what they told me too but I don't believe it now. Because there's no way the IRS has all of these returns and isn't processing them. The person I spoke to at the IRS said that there's probably a glitch in their system and eventually they will have to resend them but it could take weeks for them to figure that out.

Getting the same response from TurboTax. I have used TT for 7 years and have never had a problem, always accepted by the IRS within a few hours, and now going on a week. I read in another posting that someone found out TT hadn't actually sent the return, and so they were able to file through H&R Block and their was accepted within minutes (like it usually is). Seems super suspicious that TT isn't providing answers. TT told me that it was because I completed mine early (I didn't), and that I had used the EITC (I also didn't), so it appears they actually have no idea why. My favorite response was from a TT "expert" team member who said "literally we can't do anything about it." Meanwhile- if my info wasn't sent to the IRS... then WHERE IS IT?

Yeah my only concern with filing it somewhere else is what if TurboTax suddenly sends it and it messes up my return and refund? I will never use them again because of this. I called three times over the last three days and got three completely different answers people just make stuff up when they don't know. The last person told me she literally could see no reason why, that it showed in their system that it was received by the IRS and gave me an authorization ID and a timestamp and everything. . The last person told me she literally could see no reason why, that it showed in their system that it was received by the IRS and gave me a authorization ID and a timestamp and everything. So if the issue is on the IRS why is it that it's only TurboTax returns that they are not approving? I will wait until Monday morning and if it is not approved by then I will move onto to H&R Block and take my chances.

I was thinking the same thing. It kind of freaks me out that we are getting so many different answers from "experts." I always get MAX just so that I can speak to someone if I need help and no one has helped. I wish I could attach screenshots of my communications with them, because it's been unreal how unprofessional they have been. All lowercase "theres nothing we can do. feel free to call the irs then." Like what 7th grader is working for TurboTax with responses like that?

I was thinking of waiting until Monday and calling the IRS and seeing what the implications would be if I used another tax prep provider. I will post any new details I get. There isn't a lot of info out there on this, so I don't know if it is new this year, or maybe when we submitted there was an issue?

I submitted on 1/24 around 11AM EST if that helps. Maybe we can find a trend, and then an answer.

Same here - there's seriously an issue going on.  I filed ours on 1/28 and both Federal and California State still pending.  I called TurboTax and they said it shows they did receive them and waiting for IRS to accept.  The rep says given the current situation with the Trump's hiring freeze in IRS, probably that's why it's still showing pending.  She asks me to wait couple more days but now that I'm seeing I'm not the only one with this problem, it's not comforting to say the least.

That's one of the worst excuses I've heard yet! If they haven't hired enough people before tax season started they're even more incompetent than I ever could've imagined. Of course they had everybody hired and trained. His hiring freeze has to have hardly any effect if any at all on this. This is what I meant – TT just making up stuff to tell people.
