Filed but accidently put myself as a dependent

Hello, I filed early on but was notified by my Father that I am no longer a dependent but I filed as if I was. I went to try to amend my tax return but I was never prompted with the question "will someone claim you as a dependent?" or anything similar. I only got asked if I was claiming any dependents which is no.

Do I need to fix it or is this correct and as it should be?

If not, then how do I fix it? I can't figure it out and support has been useless so far.

You can go back and look at your form 1040 and see if there is a check mark in the box that says Someone can claim you as a dependent.

If so, you can Amend Your Return to change it. It MAY or MAY NOT make a difference. It really depends on if you would be eligible for any type of credits such as the Earned Income Credit when you are not a dependent.
