Hi, I just finished filing and I’m not too sure it was done correctly. I got a confirmation email which is good. But then I also have instructions to send some old tax info in and to keep an eye out for our refund. I’m confused on what this all means.

my mother helped me file and was also confused on the Info I got.

    It depends.

You will need to refer to your instructions for what needs to be mailed in, if anything.  Some states do require that you mail or upload supporting documentation.

You can also comment here if you have more specific information as to what your instructions are and which state they are for and we can assist you further.

Also, if you received a confirmation email, you can rest assured that your taxes have been filed or submitted based upon your email.

State and Federal income taxes may or may not be discharged in Federal Bankruptcy Court.

"Whether a federal tax debt may be discharged depends on the unique facts and circumstances of each case. Consult your bankruptcy attorney to determine which tax debts may be discharged."

For more information, please see the U.S. Courts Bankruptcy Basics Web page, particularly "The Chapter 7 Discharge."
