Fixing Return

I completed my tax return in Premier but never mailed it in. In the system, it says "filed" but I found a significant error in mortgage interest. I went to make changes but now it is saying I have to Amend my return. I can't Amend a return that hasn't been filed. What do I do?

You can do the amend return routine in TurboTax, that you will see on your home page when you log in. That will allow you to make changes to your return. The only problem is that your refund or amount due indicated will be net of the refund or amount due on your original return. But you will be able to print out the corrected return and mail it in, it will report your correct tax due or refund. Just make sure you don't mail in the amended return (federal form 1040-X.)

Can you clarify what you are trying to do so we can assist you?

Are you trying to update your input for wages reported on a W-2 Form?

If so, your input would be as follows:

Go to the Federal section of the program.

  1. Select Income & Expenses
  2. Select Job (W-2)
  3. Click Edit/Add to the right of the Job (W-2)
  4. Proceed to edit your information as prompted

If it relates to something else, please comment with your specific request so we can guide you accordingly.
