Got a letter from IRS asking about withholding tax paid on line 64, Form 1040. Do I send the orig docs or copies? it's $.50 off, prob due to rounding.

My documents are a 1099 from Social Sec and a 1099R from Edward Jones. Letter isn't clear to me what I am to send. And I don't want to send the wrong things.

Copies will be fine.

Does the letter really say to send documents because it is *fifty cents* off???   The IRS approves rounding.

No, I just assumed that was the problem because the figure they mention that requires "more information" is just $.50 off of the info on the two 1099s it represents: a 1099 from SS and a 1099 R from the broker.
