Question

Got my refund today and I’m missing money

I used TurboTax to file my taxes and have been for the last 4 years or so. Everything went smoothed, decided to choose the option where filing fees were going to be deducted from my refund, as I have in the past. I knew what both my totals were going to be, I checked my irs account and everything checked out. Today I get the refund deposited and it’s $460 short of the adjusted amount after paying for the fees? I contacted you guys and you told me I had to reach out to TPG, I did that and they said they only received the amount I got, minus the $120 fee I paid. Now I go back and check my IRS account online and it shows me receiving the original amount that includes the missing $460. So where’s my missing money?

Know that your Federal and State refunds will come separately. Your refund could also be offset.

The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.

The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.

I am fully aware federal and state come separately, I was initially referring to my federal amount. As I stated previously, I’ve logged into my IRS account which shows me in detail all of my information. I have no debts anywhere of any kind. I’ve also noticed there’s a lot of others posting about this same issue and yet to see a resolution. It’s a vicious cycle of “intuit/turbotax wants me to reach out to TPG and IRS, TPG wants me to reach out to intuit/turbotax and IRS, and lastly IRS shows me my original amount that shows the $460 I’m missing, and basically tells me to contact intuit/turbotax & TPG. No real answer on where this money is or went. It’s a joke.

Have you called the offset number I provided?
