Question

Had to make an amend to my 2017 tax return. I owe a balance of $91.00 that I've completely forgot about. Should I send it in asap or can they take it from this years?

A tax year 2017 return cannot be amended since it cannot even be filed until after January 1, 2018.  You can make changes to the 2017 tax return at any time before it is e-filed.
Or did you actually mean the 2016 tax return that was filed during calendar year 2017?

If you have federal taxes owed for 2016 it would be best to pay the amount owed now since the penalties and interest continues to accrue until the debt is paid.  The IRS will send you a bill in the mail after the taxes are paid for the penalties and interest.

Go to this IRS website for payment and use Direct Pay (Tax Return or Notice>1040, 1040A, 1040EZ>2016) - https://www.irs.gov/payments

Or if your 2017 tax return has a tax refund, then the IRS will seize the refund and apply that to the taxes owed.  Sending you any remainder,if any, after the debt plus penalties and interest have been paid.
