Has anyone not received their unemployment refund yet? I don't understand why mine is taking so long.

The IRS is recalculating refunds for people whose AGI is $150K or below and who filed before the tax law that changed the amount of unemployment that is taxable on a federal return became effective.

The IRS began to send out the additional refund checks for tax withheld from unemployment in May.  The refunds are being sent out in batches—starting with the simplest returns first.   If you are eligible for the extra refund for federal tax that was withheld from your unemployment the IRS will be sending you an additional refund sometime during the next several months.  TurboTax cannot track or predict when it will be sent.  The IRS has not provided a way for you to track it, so all you can do is wait for the refund to arrive.

Mine is simple.

Single, 2 jobs + unemployment, no kids, and school. Just felt like mine would've been one of the first to process and i did it the week taxes opened up. Hopefully they process some this week.

They are being processed in batches.   There is no way to predict what batch yours will be in.

It's so frustrating I filed my taxes early and I'm a single filer short form and still no unemployment refund? The tax transcript is useless and offers no info regarding this. I went back to work as soon as my state allowed but lost my job due to a serious illness so I need this $$ what's going on? Turbo tax has been saying for months it would update the info? Still waiting?

(There is no such thing as a "short form" since 2017.   Everyone uses a Form 1040)

What I meant was easy form sorry Jeez single filer no dependents? I wasn't looking to be corrected as far as using short form term? I did file early before the new law and I do make less than 150K and my answer is always the same ? Yet still no refund?

@Mary Rose 11 Did you file early before the tax law changed--and did you pay federal tax on your unemployment?

So far the IRS has issued over 8 million of those “extra” refunds for tax on unemployment.   The IRS has not announced when the next batch will be sent out, but they are still working on them.

Hi.  It is almost end of October and I haven't received my unemployment tax refund.  Filed single, no dependents.  Think I should file an amendment or just keep waiting?  Anyone else still waiting?

@tatwood123 Amended returns take about six months or more to be processed---so that will not speed up the IRS for you.

So if my unemployment taxes haven’t changed on my 1040 form that means that they haven’t gotten to mine yet?
