Hello,I filled tax return online as married file jointly and then selected mail instead of e-file(not yet sent). Amended status filing separately. Which form to send?

I have not yet send the original tax return by mail and already amended filing status as filing separately on turbotax. Do I need to send both forms? Or I need to send only the latest form? I owe some money as part of amendment. Do I need to send the check or it will be adjusted as part of original tax return since it’s not yet received by IRS?

If you have not filed your original return, you do not amend your return.  You should just make changes to your original return, then file just that.

You need to put return back to the way it was, then to correct the filing status just go to the personal info section to change filing status. See the following to undo an amended return.

How do I cancel or undo an amended return in TurboTax Online?

If you started amending your tax return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment, follow the steps below. You'll need to undo any changes you made during the amendment process.

  1. Open your return if it isn't already open.
  2. In the left menu, select Cancel Amend.
  3. Select Yes, I want to cancel my amended return and Continue.
  4. Remove any forms or changes you made to your return before or after the amend process was canceled.
  5. Add back in any forms you deleted while amending your return.
