Question

Hello. I have filed for both Federal and State taxes but I have only received the return of the Federal ones. How can I check the status of the State return?

The federal one I e-filed it while the state one I had to send it by mail. This was done 2 months ago and I haven't received any feedback.

Since you have mailed your State tax return you can start tracking it 4 weeks after mailing your paper return

If you have already filed your state return, you can check your state government's refund lookup service for the latest on your state refund status. Choose your state below and it will provide you instructions on how to check the status on your state's website. It takes about 4 weeks to show up in their system after you mail it.

The IRS and your local state have separate refunding procedures and schedules, which means your refunds are processed separately by IRS for federal and your state's Department of Revenue for your state return. So that means many people can get their federal refund before getting the state one, or vice versa.
