Hello I'm Transgender and updated my name change at the SSA and have my new social security card but it still won't let me e-file...what else did I miss?

The only thing is my birth certificate, but that doesn't matter because I have all the documents needed to prove name change.

The last four digits of your social security number and the first four letters of your last name must match what is on file with Social Security.

Does the last name on your social security card match what you are using on your tax return?

Also..Depending on how recently you changed your name, the IRS computers may not have the new name integrated in their SSN/Name checks yet.

Wait a couple weeks and try again..., or in mid-March.

Some folks have occasionally suggested just trying with your old name...but that can cause problems with bank accounts for eventual refunds or debits....etc...if ....those are now in the new name too.
