You may have inadvertently clicked the box to create an amended Massachusetts return.  To remove the state amended return you will have to go back through your state interview and first "unselect" the amended return to remove the "trigger" for Form CA-6.  Please follow these steps:

  1. Sign back in to your return and click on the State Taxes tab.
  2. Click on the Edit/Continue box next to your state return.
  3. On the screen, You've Finished Your Massachusetts Return,  click on the Update box next to Other Situations.  [Screenshot #1]
  4. On the Change a Previous Massachusetts Return screen click the No button.   [Screenshot #2]
  5. You will be brought back to the You've Finished screen.

Now that you've deleted the "trigger" for the amended return (CA-6), you need to delete it from your return using these steps:

  1. While in your return, click My Account (in the blue bar at the top of the screen).  [Screenshot #3]
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Under Other helpful links click on Delete a form [Screenshot #4]
  4. Click Delete next to Form CA-6 and follow the onscreen instructions.  [Screenshot #5]
  5. Once you have finished deleting the desired form(s) click the Continue with My Return box (in the lower right of your screen).

You should now be able to file your state return when the MA forms are ready.  See this TurboTax support FAQ for state forms availability.

Your state return(s) will show a status of incomplete if you filed your federal return by itself (or with another state).  You will have to come back after your federal return is accepted to e-file it. E-filing a state by itself is only allowed once a federal return is accepted/rejected.

The IRS started accepting 2016 tax returns January 23.  TurboTax will send you an email when the federal tax return has either been accepted or rejected by the IRS.

Your state return may not have transmitted because all the forms and schedules included in the return available for filing.  See this TurboTax support FAQ for state forms availability.

To access your state returns, after filing your federal return please follow these steps:

  1. On the Overview page, click on My TurboTax > My Tax Timeline.  [See Screenshot #1, below.]
  2. Click on Continue my [state] return.  [Screenshot #2]
  3. If you have not completed your state return, click on the State Taxes tab.  If you have completed your state return, click on the Review tab and go through the prompts to file your state return.  [Screenshot #3]

Hello, thank you for your quick response but I have done that but it's still mentioning an amendment which I'm not sure about. A screen pops up that says something about 1/27/17 do I have to wait until then?
