Help! Question about returns

For the last few years, my tax return has been sent off to pay for a student loan I have defaulted on. HARD TIMES ARE JUST GETTING HARDER!!!! Anyway, I’m curious if anyone knows if those collections have changed because of COVID 19? I’ve been laid off, am waiting for unemployment and could really use my return this year. I haven’t been able to find any answers short of calling the IRS. I would be so thankful for help on this one!

The IRS can still offset your refund for defaulted student loans.

However, they cannot offset your stimulus checks. Stimulus checks can only be offset for child support.
