Question

Hi I have a silly question. If I get direct deposit through TurboTax is that the same as getting it from the IRS, regarding the stimulus package. My address has changed

Yes. The stimulus will go to the same account that you chose for direct deposit when you filed.

FIRST ... the rules for the stimulus check have NOT been issued yet but the refund going thru the third party bank is NOT the same as getting it directly from the IRS ... until they tell post the rules none of us know if the money will be sent via check or be funnelled thru the third party bank ... watch for info in these 2 places :

https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus

SECOND ... if your address has changed then you should mail in a form 8822 ASAP in case the check is mailed :

Unless you have verifiable   information that the IRS or third party bank are currently not disseminating  please do not post an answer without the link to that information.

Accounts at the processing banks are normally  closed once the IRS check arrived and the money was forwarded ... those accounts are for a single use only and then the accounts are closed permanently.

NOW the ability of  those banks to  keep open or re-open those accounts  to receive and pass on the stimulus checks  has not been released yet ... so we will have to wait and see.
