Question

Hi, I need to amend the last year's tax refund and I wanted to get the last year's tax refund copy. I cannot reuse Turbotax since I am not a resident in the states.

You won't be able to amend your 2018 tax return with TurboTax if you filed Form 1040NR.  If you can't find your 2018 tax return, you can order a free transcript of your return at the IRS Get Transcript site or you can purchase a full copy of your 2018 return.

If you used another tax software in 2018, you may be able to use that software to amend your 2018 Form 1040NR.

Thanks for your reply.

If I filed a tax refund through Turbotax, does it mean I have filed with 1040? not 1040NR?

I am non-resident but I filed the tax refund through Turbotax last year and I heard that non-resident should not have filed it using Turbotax. Is it correct?

Thanks in advance.

If you filed through TurboTax you would have filed a 1040.
