If you have already efiled your tax return without the other W-2, you will have to wait. If the IRS rejects your return after they start processing returns on Jan. 28, you can add the W-2, fix the reason for rejection, and re-submit your tax return for efiling.

If it is accepted, you must wait until it is processed an you receive your refund. You can then begin the process to amend your return with form 1040X. Do not change anything on your original tax return until you begin the amended return. Form 1040X will probably not be available from TurboTax until late February or March. The 1040X must be prepared, printed, signed and mailed. It cannot be efiled. The IRS takes about 16 weeks to process an amended return.
