Here are the instructions to amend - Filing status is one of the items you can amend for.    You can qualify for Head of Household if you:

  1. Were unmarried as of December 31, 2020, and
  2. Paid more than half the cost to run your (or a qualifying parent's) home this year (rent, mortgage, utilities, etc.) and
  3. Supported a qualifying person.

If you were still legally married as of December 31, 2020, and a child lives with you, you can qualify for Head of Household under a slightly different set of rules. Read more.

If you are amending to change your filing status, make sure you go through the credits section again to ensure you are maximizing those credits.

How did you file originally?  Not everyone gets a big refund (or a refund at all).  In fact, some folks owe at tax time.
