You can't.  You cannot file a prior year returns with the Online version, it is only for the current tax year (2019).  You would need the Desktop software for each prior year return you file.  Prior year returns cannot be e-filed with TurboTax, they must be mailed.  You can also go to the IRS website & your States website for 2018 forms to fill out.

Make sure you mail each year in a separate envelope & sign the returns.

For tax years 2018, 2017, or 2016

You'll need to purchase and download the TurboTax software for PC or Mac as TurboTax Online and the mobile app are only available for the current tax year.

After installing the software, open it and follow the onscreen instructions.

Prior year returns must be paper-filed, as e-filing is no longer available. We'll walk you through that process when you get to the File section in the software.

The current online product can ONLY be used to file a 2019 tax return.  If the return you efiled was rejected, you can delete everything and enter your 2019 information. If it was accepted, you will now have to prepare, print and mail an amended return form 1040X to file your 2019 tax return.  DO NOT change anything on the tax return you filed by mistake until you start the amended return. You will then need to delete everything that should not have been entered on your 2019 tax return. An amended return must be printed and mailed by you. It can't be efiled. In normal times, it takes the IRS about 16 weeks to process an amended return.

Now to prepare and file a 2018 tax return, you must start from scratch after buying, downloading and installing the 2018 program on your tax return. Here is a link to buy it: https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

A 2018 tax return cannot be efiled. You must print and mail it yourself.
