How can i change yhe bank account that my refund is being sent to? The account i used is no longer open and i need to pit my current bank account before my refund is sent out

Once the tax return has been filed and accepted the method of receiving the tax refund cannot be changed.

If the IRS cannot direct deposit the tax refund because it was rejected by the bank, the IRS will mail the refund check to the address on the tax return.

Once a tax return is efiled and accepted, there is no way to change the direct deposit information for the refund. When the bank declines the direct deposit due to a closed account, the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to you at the address on your tax return.
