How do I access and edit my 2021 return? Turbo Tax online railroads you into a wizard for filing a 2022 return.

I want to change value on my past return to estimate how my current or future tax situation could look. Turbo Tax Online seemingly doesn't allow you to do that. You can download your old return but you can't use the software to "play" with it like you could in the past.

You would need to download the 2021 tax data file from your online account. Then you will need the 2021 TurboTax desktop software to open the 2021 tax date file.

If you make any changes to the 2021 tax data and want to save the changes you must save the data with a different name then the original file. Click on the File menu at the top left of the desktop program screen and click on Save As...

To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Start the 2022 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.

On the Tax Home webpage -

Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on Amend (change) 2021 return
