How do I cancel an amendment on my federal return? I mistakenly amended it along with my state. The directions were extremely unclear when doing so.

Are you trying to amend your state return, but not your federal return? If so, you have to go through the "amend" process for the federal return in order to amend your state return.

TurboTax uses the information in the federal return to update the state return. The state interview questions will allow you to make changes to (i.e. amend) the state return, but you have to start off with an "amended" federal return.

If your federal return doesn't need amending, just don't submit/mail the "amended" version of the federal return..
