how do I change the file date for my state tax?

    Can you please clarify. Are you trying to file your state taxes at a later date?

    I was asked to enter a file date when I was preparing my MD state tax. Then I was told I owe state tax and may get charged interest based on the file date I entered. So I am trying to change my file date to an earlier date to reduce the interest. Thanks.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Return to your state program
    2. Continue through MD until you reach A few things before we wrap up.,,
    3. Locate Interest on Underpayment of Taxes
    4. Edit/ Revisit
    5. Enter the new date you will pay.
    6. You can pay online today, Online Payment
