How do I edit my spouse to show deceased? Im filing online and app wont allow me to edit her

I'm filing as married filing jointly. Ive upgraded twice but app still won't let me specifically edit my spouse. I will try the final upgrade to see if that helps.

I'm very sorry for your loss.  Please try the following steps:

  • With your return open, under 2021 taxes click on My Info. 
  • Scroll to your spouse's name and then click the blue Edit button on the right. 
  • This will reopen your spouse's information and you can then scroll down to #3 and check the box My spouse passed away before filing this return.
